Wave Goodbye

Google announced today that they are pulling the plug on Google Wave by the end of the year. The product evidently did not attract enough users to justify its continued existence. Its future seems to uncertain.

  • “We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects.”

I have used Wave and it seems to have some nice features. We used it for a couple of PKAP meetings and project and it worked well. For some reason though, I never used it as much as I could have and in thinking about it, I really can’t tell you why. Maybe that’s why it never caught on – good but not great.
