As I get ready for the summer field season in Cyprus, I tend to read more articles about Cyprus online, not just the news items as I do in the fall. I ran across an article today in the Cyprus Mail that really stunned me – “Cyprus in Bloom.” I have never arrived in Cyprus earlier than the beginning of May and by that time of the year, Cyprus is generally fairly dry and brown. Due to the rainfall Cyprus received over the winter (badly needed due to an ongoing draught), spring has brought forth a profusion of colorful wildflowers on the island. I need to find some free time to visit Cyprus some other time than in the summer.
