In Cyprus, President Demetris Christofias and his ministers have announced that they will take a 10% pay cut in an effort to help out with the growing Cypriot deficit. While the gesture will not help significantly reduce the deficit, it is a symbolic gesture of the tight of budget cutting that will be needed to tackle the economic situation which is slipping.
