Google is the latest company to make a stab at creating a virtual world. They have announced the creation of “Lively.” I have to admit that my initial examination of it left me less than impressed. Now, this might be due to the fact that the rumors I had heard made it sound like another Second Life and that was what I was expecting to see. This was probably unfair of me. This program, however, seems to be much more of a virtual chat room and does not offer the same possibilities that SL does for teaching and interaction. So for me, this seems to belong in the same category as Twitter – something cool and intriguing, but not something I see myself using.
