Next Archaeological Short Ready

Our second archaeological short feature is now available for viewing on-line. The short, "Learning Fieldwalking," is part of our series Emerging Cypriot and is a short introduction to intensive survey fieldwalking and shows you what we try to teach our undergraduate students on their first day in the field. As a project, we are very interested in pedagogy and try each season to refine our teaching techniques. It is difficult to convey our system of data collection to inexperienced fieldwalkers and most of our undergraduates are not archaeology majors and this is their first archaeological experience of any kind. For more information on the system we use for fieldwalking (the Chronotype System) take a quick look at Bill Caraher’s blog "Survey Archaeology, Pottery, and the Chronotype System" which does a very good job of briefly laying out the pros and cons of the system.
